Project Title: A Cultural Venue
Year: 2020
Location: Mahmoud Mokhtar Museum - Zamalik, Cairo, Egypt.
Supervision: Prof. Aly Gabr
Theme: Identity - Public

IDEA
The main idea was inspired by the book of ‘The seven pillars of the Egyptian Identity’ by Milad Hanna; where the idea is emphasizing the origin of Egyptian identity, where it goes back to seven different pillars constructing this one unified Egyptian identity which is characterized by its harmony.  This origin resulted in having different people from different backgrounds, in which the main aim of this project is to gather those different people in one place.
Thus, the project’s location was picked; the fact that we have precious places that need to be well-known led to selecting a historical museum, which is located in one of the most lively areas in Cairo,  Egypt, which is also characterized by its people’s diversity as a result of locating different functions in the area.

CONCEPT
The Annex is a node that engulfs the chaotic DNA of Egyptian culture by incubating the diversity and dynamism of the public.
